In most of the
cases,
junk mails
come to you
when you or
someone else
give your
e-mail address
to a News
Group, or a
Marketing
site, or an
Internet
Survey, or a
Bulletin
Board.
Programs
called
"robots"
lurk at these
sites. These
robots are
programmed to
look for
e-mail
addresses.
Since all
e-mail
addresses have
the same
pattern e.g -
(yourname@yourisp.com.np)
the search for
e-mail
addresses is
relatively
easy. Once
found, an
e-mail address
is added to a
bulk-mail
list. You may
have been very
careful and
not given out
your e-mail
address.
Nevertheless,
spam (unwanted
junk mail)
comes in. In
this case, the
spammer has
sent out mass
mailings using
common first
names and an
ISP domain
name, e.g., xyz@nns.com.np.
Quick
Suggestions:
Upon
receipt,
DELETE the
junk mail
message. Think
of it in the
same context
as throwing
away the junk
mail you
receive at
home.
DO NOT REPLY
to the spam
message.Almost
all spammers
use fake
ddresses and
your reply
action might
cause another
flooding of
junk mails to
all original
addressees.
DO NOT respond
to
"instructions
to remove me
from the
mailing
list".
This often
serves as a
confirmation
that your
account is
active and the
mail is being
read. For
advertising
purposes, this
makes your
address more
valuable.
There are no
other
effective
methods to
completely
stop the junk
mails. As a
precaution,
try the above
suggestions
and most
importantly,
never ever
subscribe for
E-mail offers
or reminders
in any
website.
